-The Pistons split games in Boston with the Celtics. The first game was close and the Pistons couldn't close out the deal. But in the game two, a barrage of threes in the third helped the 'stones go on a run to take the lead and keep in for good. I expect the 'stones to split at home this weekend. I can see at the end of a game, the pistons not sure of who is going to step up, giving the ball to guys who won't be able to close out the game. The celts have been going to paul pierce, and he's been pretty good. The teams are so evenly matched, that I think this is definitely going to a game 7.
-The Bulls got the #1 pick in the upcoming NBA draft. I've heard all the arguments for Michael Beasley and Derek Rose.I say Michael Beasley, the next Derrick Coleman is the way to go. While Derek Rose may have a slight bit more upside, I don't know about bringing him back home , because as we've seen with a couple athletes, the people they have grown up with have been less than stellar and teams may not want to deal with that.
-The Tigers swept the Mariners scoring 30 runs in 3 games after scoring 12 runs in the 6 previous. Was this triggered by the Jim Leyland explosion on Monday? Was it just because the Tigers were at home? I think it was because the Tigers weren't down early by multiple runs. the were able to relax coming out of the gate and able to hit the ball. This is how good this team can be when they are clicking. I think they could keep and rolling and definitely take two of three from the twins. and creep closer to .500
- The Stanley Cup finals start this week and I was half right on my prediction. Unfortunately the Sharks weren't able the get past the Stars. So we have the Red Wings against the Penguins in the Finals. These teams are pretty evenly matched. The Pens have 2 high quality scoring lines. The Wings have their #1's (datsyuk, zetterberg, Holmstrom) and a bunch of good #2's. The Wings have an advantage on the blueline even though the Pens have a strong defensive corps. Marc-Andre Fleury has been playing out of his mind with strong defense in front of him all playoffs. Chris Osgood has been very solid with strong defense that is allowing about 20 shots a game. Shots will at a premium in this series. I am taking the Pens in 7 with at least 3 games going into OT at either 1-1 or 0-0.
