This is definitely one of the worst times for a sportsfan in Detroit. Here are the reasons why.
-The Tigers have officially been eliminated from playoff contention and need to win 12 of the last 15 games to finish at .500. I don't know how many times I can write this but this is the MOST disappointing team in Detroit sports history, and its right up there with all-time disappointments.
-The Lions are being merciful with fans this season. Instead of jumping out and winning a couple of games the first few weeks, the Lions decided that they will just start being horrible from the get-go. Once Drew Stanton is healthy, the Lions should be starting him, because they are out of playoff contention RIGHT NOW. Plus, the Lions will need to figure out who they are gonna select with the No.1 overall pick.
- The Red Wings don't start up for another 3 weeks and the Pistons don't start up for another month and a half. This forces fans to watch the crappy Lions, the baffling Tigers, the learning Wolverines, and the never fail to disappoint Spartans.
-O yeah, the economy sucks too.

While sitting and reviewing my old posts I cam across this , I rally want to revisit it and figure out what exactly went wrong with the 2008 Detroit Tigers. Right Now they are 67-72 and it seems more and mroe like they won't make a charge for .500 . I am going to randomly select some stats that may make the season look bad, like it is.
Runs Scored 704
This actually the Stat that makes the tigers look good. Only 4 teams in the AL have scored more runs that the Tigers (Red Sox, Orioles, Rangers, Twins). Scoring that many runs is great but it don't mean a thing if you can't stop the other teams.
Runs Allowed 709
There are only 2 teams in the AL (Baltimore and Texas) that have given up less runs than the Tigers, but we spent so much money on pitching. Twenty Million dollars that WAS spent on the rotation (Bonderman, Robertson, Willis) are noticeably absent. The Bullpen who have all been G-A-R-bage, are not making much money at all, Todd Jones is the only one making multiple millions and he did so while dreaming of a nice retirement after this year.Luckily our ace with a record of 10-15 was only making $1.5 million this year.
BBs per game (by our pitchers) 3.9
When you are putting 4 guys on base a game its no doubt that one or two of them are going to score. Its like you are playing connect four and for every 3 checkers you drop you let the other guy drop 4. Sooner or later that is gonna come back and nip you in the behind. Combine that stat with haveng the 3rd least amount of strikeouts in the AL, and its a recipe for disaster.
Errors 103
Thats only better than one other team (Guess who??? TEXAS). I only have that one stupid metaphor, so I can't explain this one with connect four or checkers. I can't look at these number anymore, they are making me nauseated. I don't want to throw up before b sleep either.
